Wooden Dreams Woodcarving
By Mike Bloomquist
In Mike's own words..."This is an excellent example
of a hobby gone horribly out of control."
Well all we saw was many excellent carvings by
an obviously a very talented and versatile woodcarver!
Santas, Fish, Dragons, Faeries, Gnomes just to name few
of the subjects featured on Mike's site....Go See!
Steven Fland Gallery
Visit this site for wonderful tupelo and black walnut carvings of realistic, award winning duck decoys. Steve may be a fantastic waterfowl carver, but wait till you see "Pest Control" and "Al and Woody" ... I can't say any more without giving the fun away.
Woodcarvings by J. R. Townsend
Judy's Bird Sanctuary is currently home to the Common Loon, Kestrel, Chickadee, Bald Eagle, and a Hummingbird, to name just a few of the +twenty different birds her site features. Check out the extremely fine detailing on her new Titmouse carving, no wonder her work is award winning!
Harry R. Whitehorse
We went to Harry's site expecting to see wood carving. We found that and a whole lot more including oil paintings, metal
sculpture, multi-media, and snow carvings all featuring native American themes. As a carver I will never look at a pile of snow as just a mess - after Harry's site it is an invitation to creativity.
Finishing Touch Wood Carving
Here is your chance to see carving at it's best. Finishing Touch Wood Carving has a wonderfully laid out website that features wood carving set in classic furniture, mantel
pieces, doors, and more. "I do a lot of challenging work - not because I know how but because I don't know I can't"
says Mr. Beauchamp ... this is a dramatic understatement from what we discovered at his site. Check out the Armoires page, Steve is showing one of the most beautiful claw and ball legs we have seen, a classic in our hobby.
Lloyd Cochran Wildfowl Carver
Lloyd's award winning waterfowl carvings are well displayed on his site, along with a wonderful
Rainbow Trout and some really cute Puffins! The Chattanooga Woodcarvers Club is also well
represented with several pages of members' carvings in the gallery.
Sonrise Woodcarving Studio
Stephan Toman at Sonrise Woodcarving Studio website is showing some wonderful classic relief carvings worked from the historic patterns. Our favorite is the classic Fruit and Flower Basket mantelpiece medallion. Check out the delicate fret work in the Long Grapevine Frieze carving. This
site is so full that there is almost too much to see!
ALAN SMITH : SCULPTOR
Alan Smith's fine art talents are clearly showed
in the wolves, dolphins
and horse sculpture, but my
favorites are his nude studies, done in black walnut
and sassafras. Be sure to check out "Summer Repose"
done in sassafras a sitting nude with beautiful depth
and shadowing in the hair and "Warm Summer Evening"
with her classic pose and classic flowing lines.
SPOONLADY
Sometimes in our search for the most beautifully
elaborate carving we miss the stunning elegancy of
the very simple form. Visiting the SPOONLADY has
cured that habit forever!
Clean gentle lines and delightful use of wood grain
make her kitchen utensils more art than function.
So I have added the Pennsylvania Curly Cherry batter
spoon and the cherry wood
veggie spoon to my
next wish list. It is well worth the visit just to see
the
variety
of woods SPOONLADY is carving.
MPCarvers Wood Carving Page
If you need inspiration for carving duck decoys this is
the site to visit. Canvasbacks, Hooded Merganser,
and Loons are decorated the pages. Plus take a moment
to check out the Grants Zebra and Foal, well worth
of it's First Place division and Second Place Best of Show
awards. Few artists can so capture your imagination
that, for a brief moment, you forget that this is a
piece of wood because your mind is "holding it's breath"
for fear that the fowl is disappear in flight.
Stan's StumpArt
OK ... What's 10 foot tall, 4 foot wide, and made
out of white pine? Stan's StumpArt! This site is just overwhelming in it's
magnitude. First you are
treated to a Bear sow and her cub being treed by
a Tom Turkey, all done with a chain saw. More?
There's lots more here, so plan to spend some time
enjoying Stan's art and
sense
of humor.

is "Unforgettable Moment" since we believe that is
the lasting impression his work will leave you with.
Just unforgettable!
Wiltshire Whittling
Dave Toulson's site will absolutely have you grinning
ear to ear! First, there is a wonderful series of caricatures,
each with a distinctive expression. But, it's when you
get to the automakits mechanical toys that you
become mesmerized. Each toy has it's own
animation for your full enjoyment!
We had to see every one. Great site Dave!

over carving. Enjoy a nice tour of miniature carved
ducks, cane segments, Christmas
Santa Claus ornaments and lots and lots of

An exceptionally well designed website.

has a delightful variety of wood ideas.

run your hand along the surface just
to feel the grain of the wood.
